Personal: I'M MOVING!!

So I figured I have a bit of time and because of that I’d write a personal entry update.  I have decided I’ll make more regular-ish updates to Twitter @ www.twitter.com/missimoinsane so if you want to follow what I’m doing you can follow me there!!  But here’s the plan and the updates of what’s happened with me..  I'm also creating a 5th instagram https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane_life/ which will be everything moving, food, life, weight, cats, day to day etc etc..

So how did I get to where I am now?

First of all on Friday 5th October 2018
I found out that I’m basically becoming homeless.  My current situation was that I was residing on the ground floor space of the 3 story house my parents were renting.  So as a disabled person I had my own bedroom, craft room, bathroom (well shower room), kitchenette and mouldy backroom and garage for storage oh and a shared hall / front door…  Pretty cushy setup..  However my Stepdads health is getting so much worse made worse by the stairs from the ground floor where I reside to their living room is 2 flights of stairs then another 2 to get to their bedroom.  My mum had her knees done some 20 years ago but they’re still not right.  And between all the stairs, all the issues with our home that our letting agency wont fix since technically we don’t have a landlord as the property we rent is a portfolio meaning it was repossessed and the rent is based on paying back that debt.  I digress..  Basically their friend has offered them a 2 bed bungalow in a super nice area, that has a wet room and is ideal for them and my 13 (nearly 14) year old sister.  However sadly that makes me homeless.  I absolutely couldn’t afford to take this place on on my own, in fact if I wasn’t here they wouldn’t be able to afford this place and they get more money than I do!!  So..

Sunday 6th
Mum finds this absolutely perfect for me one bedroom bungalow, with garage, with garden, behind huge gates, that’s a detached property it’s almost like it was made for me and at a super reasonable price!!  Especially for the area which FIY is 6 minute walk to where my parents are moving to!!  (Thanks Google).

ignore the scrolling arrows it's on the photo not a cool click for more pics..

Monday 7th
Mum rings up Estate Agency and they said they’d call back.  Mum rings up housing and they say if I find a private rent they will help me finance the move.  I’ve already been on the housing list for nearly 12 months and I’m still entitled to one of their properties however 1 property vs hundreds of applicants….  You do the math.

Tuesday 8th
Mum rings Estate Agency and arranges a viewing for 3.20pm she explained to Zach about my anxieties, that I’m disabled on disability benefits and that I have 2 cats..  to which his response was “Well this property is perfect for her!” he went on to explain just how secure and private this place is and how it’s in a super quiet area except it is behind a nursery (if you can’t deal with kids playing then that’s a sad life surely?).  So.. excited!!  We went to view the property the garden has been left to wreck and ruin, the whole place is being gutted – brand new kitchen (in grey), new carpets and flooring (in grey), walls are all off white/cream and everything is being done up inside..  It’s going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the 4 year old photo’s I saw..  Which I already thought was more than good enough..   I’m beyond excited.

So we met with Oliver who was super nice..  I was almost hugging him by the end I was beyond excited..  He explained to me how there were 5 viewers coming today but I was the first!!  It’s available in 2-3 weeks time.  Eek I want this!!  We called the Estate Agency as soon as we left but they said by the time we get there they will be shut, but we can bring in my application form, £150 for the background checks (which I got back if I wasn’t successful) and the relevant ID and paperwork first thing in the morning.  I’m the first in line so if I want it and I’m successful then it’s mine..

Wednesday 9th
First thing my parents drove me to the Agency so as they opened there I was dressed smart and a folder containing everything they’d asked for and more at the ready.  We spoke with Zach (who was the gentleman we arranged the viewing with), we said hi to Oliver who was beaming with excitement and kept singing my praises to the other guys and saying how it’s a perfect fit and so ideal..  Apparently 3/5 didn't show up..  Then it was all passed onto Paul.  Paul had to go through all the paperwork and give the Letting Agency approval..  He said it would then go onto the Landlord/Owner of the property which would probably be Thursday/Friday before they heard back and if they were happy with it (I’m disabled, on benefits, with 2 cats etc..) then it will go onto the background, security, history and credit check etc etc so probably be Tuesday at the latest before I hear back.  I’m excited but I don’t want to be because I know I’m simply not this lucky!!  Paul didn’t seem as excited as Zach and Oliver did..   Then I went home..

I made a start on repacking stuff that was in storage since one way or another I have to move anyways.  I had a lot of stuff in storage from when I lived in a 3 bed house with my ex that had gone to wreck and ruin thanks to mice/rats, mould/damp and well.. yeh.  I managed to pack up nearly a dozen boxes and had over a dozen black bags of rubbish..

At just before 3pm I get a phone call.. It’s Paul..  He doesn't sound like he has good news BUT - the bungalow is mine if I want it!!!!!!!!!!   Landlord/owner is more than happy..!  Credit checks etc etc all passed no problems..!  I don't even need a guarantor..!  At best the work will be done 22nd at worst it will be done by 26th so to get packing..!!  I have till the day of completion to get £1160 together for bond, pet bond and first month’s rent!! (I now have) And on top of that amount I need to pool together 2-300+ for removals..  can you help?  Even £1 would be a massive help you can donate to me @ https://www.paypal.me/missimoinsane or you can buy stuff from me @ https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/missimoinsanecreations (which after I’ve moved I’ll add more stuff to so I can pay back the friends I’ve borrowed money from).

Thursday 10th
I went to housing, dead pleased I'd got myself a place and asked for their financial aid to help me move.  I was then informed the property I'm moving to isn't in Fylde it's in Wire.  So I'm entitled to zero financial help.  In fact it was almost like this was all my fault because I picked a property I didn't even know was out the area..  My anxieties were sky high and I did very well to not have a full blown anxiety attack or rage out at her.  So her advice was to pick one of her flats in a choice of rough areas and she'd help me move.,  F'That.  Because I haven't lived in Wire for 3+ years nor do I know anyone that's lived there for 5+ years I'm not entitled to financial help from them either to finance my move.  So the final option is to apply for a discretionary grant but because I'm not already claiming housing benefit I'm not entitled to that either.  So option 1.  Swallow my pride and beg friends, family, strangers etc.   2.  Say goodbye to perfect bungalow and go get a flat which will make me even more ill, be in among druggies and party people.  The woman tried to assure me not everyone in Blackpool is a druggy.  In the last 5 years I've lived in 2 properties in Blackpool and both were next to druggies so in my experience 2/2 properties that's 100% so...  option 1 it is..

I went home and begged and borrowed from friends so despite my pride I have the £1160 - I do however need to find money for removals..  (So far I’ve had a small donation to say thank you for all the amazing work I do on these BoS blogs, another from a lovely lady who’s been there, money from my brother as a housewarming, my parents paid the £150 background check but need their money for their move now and I’ve borrowed some money from a friends who I need to pay back.. plus my benefits so I now have the money for the bungalow but need to find as said another £2-300+ for removals.

Friday 11th - Tuesday 16th
I’ve done nothing but panic and worry, try to find ways to get money and pack as much as I can while being 1. Disabled and 2. Having very few boxes.  The plan is / was to go with a removals company that supplies boxes.  They were supposed to come yesterday (Monday 15th) at 10.30 but they called at 11 to say they would come sometime today (yesterday) to no surprise they didn’t however they’re supposed to be coming to give my mum a quote for her move and me a quote for mine!!  But they didn’t bother to come.  Mum left a message at 6pm saying that we weren’t available last night as we had stuff on and no one has got back to her about coming today and it’s already gone 1pm.  I spoke with the Estate Agency yesterday who said the kitchen went in over the weekend so now they just need to get the plumber to do his thing, electrician and gas man to do their thing, tiler to come in and do that then carpet people to come do the flooring and it’s done but they still don’t know if it will be closer to 22nd finish or 26th finish..  I told them I have money for them from this Thursday (18th) and they’re chuffed with that.  They have given me a copy of the energy rating from 2014 (I’ve found a 2016 version from H&M Rev) and a copy of the gas certificate which expired 3 months ago but obviously a new one will be issued as they’re fitting a new oven etc.

So I have so much stuff to pack, I’m creating an amazon wish list of stuff I want / need http://amzn.eu/2D8mUEb have a whole plan of stuff I’m doing to DIY which is going to become some YouTube tutorials and stuff here but feel free to follow me on YouTube @ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTePDilWDEOAKGDXPgeMNmw?view_as=subscriber also on my 5 instagram accounts @ Witchy Stuff / Main account - https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane/  @ Planner account - https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane_plans/  @ Arts and Crafts account - https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane_creations/  @ Photography account - https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane_photos/ and my new account  @ Life account - https://www.instagram.com/missimoinsane_life/.  Then as for mentioned I am also on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/missimoinsane so let’s see where this crazy journey leads..

I don’t know when I’ll be back doing my Book of Shadows blog prompts but I definitely have some additional blog ideas on making a house a witchy home.

Thank you in advance if you help me financially with this move or if you just send positive thoughts and wishes my way.

All the best xoxo Imogen aka missimoinsane

Prompt 26. Sunday 14th October 2018 - The 26th prompt will be..   The Urban / Modern Witch supplies!

If you haven't yet checked out prompt 23. Where and What Supplies to Buy.  24. Real Dangers of Stones, Herbs and Essential Oils!  25. Practice for the budget/broke practitioner!  blog posts which are all aimed at supplies then you might want to read them plus maybe my other blog prompts which contains imo useful information.

This weeks focus is going to be more towards to modern witch including techno witches and also urban (city/town) witches.

Any time I refer to Witch, Witches, Witchcraft etc please also know I'm talking about all practitioners of Magick, Earth based religions such as Wicca, Druidry, Shamanism and other Pagan practices, Spiritual practitioners etc etc..  Please do not be offended I am well aware that not all everyone associates themselves as Witches or consider themselves to practice Witchcraft.  - Thank you.

Witchcraft like many other earth based practices, studies, faiths, beliefs and/or religions etc is growing in numbers of practitioners.  While witch hunters are not gone it's far more acceptable today to be a Witch, practice Witchcraft, be a Pagan or some equal practitioner.  In fact modern day actually show us it's hip and cool to be a witch (and not just for Halloween) especially those of us who are more darkling inclined such as some of the gothy types, those with more morbid curiosities or just interests in paranormal and the unknown etc.  There for it's not hard to believe that witches come in all shapes, sizes, genders, and even habitats..   While witches would perhaps have traditionally have live in woodland areas making it easier to grow or obtain supplies todays woods are more concrete jungles than your nostalgic typical cottage in the woods.

Urban (meaning a person or character from a city or town) witches may have a harder time going out and foraging for their supplies from the usual woods, fields, beaches, gardens etc,  But does this mean they're not a real witch?  NO!  Does this mean they can't practice?  NO!  Does this make them any less of a witch than someone who does live in a cottage in the woods?  Well maybe but generally speaking NO!  - I myself get much more inspired by my surroundings and I dare say if I lived in a cottage in the woods I'd feel much more witchy than if I lived in a block of high rise flats in the city (oh how I'd hate that!)  But this doesn't mean I practice any less, work harder or would be better off in the woods!  Even living in this house near a town I'm not far for the park, woods and beach and I still feel witchy and still get to practice and still use the internet to gather most of my supplies although I sometimes do go scavenging in the woods and at the beach..  However some of us do live in big cities nowhere near parks, woods, forests, beaches, lakes etc etc..  And don't have gardens or access to space and their space is very minimalist and valuable.  Nearly all their supplies will be sourced online for ease as the supermarkets and grocery stores are busy places and while a lot of them lend themselves to a great many herbs and spices the internet is a much better resource and possibly even cheaper too.  Plus as a disabled person shopping online is pretty much my go to.

Is a techno witch someone who gets their supplies online? Yes and No!  A techno witch is a witch who uses technology primarily in their practice.  Also feel free to also look into Techno-Paganism as well but here's some basics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technopaganism.

These days modern technology has become the everyday norm for most of us.  We have access to various devices from computers to laptops, mobile phones (cell phones) to tablets and all usually with internet access via home wifi, 3G/4G, internet caffe, school network, hotspots, friends/families wifi and the list goes on..  Meaning that it's now much easier to be a Techno-Witch, Techno-Pagan even a Neo-Pagan thanks to internet access and the growing and developing technology, web and people on the internet!!

The internet is a huge library of false, true and manipulated information.  It carries a vast knowledge of information on witches (Pagans and other religions, faiths and practices) history, traditions, book of shadow content, correspondances, information on stones/crystals, candles, essential oils, herbs, tools, rituals, prayers, spells, meditation, magickal and metaphysical correspondence ect all at the press of a few buttons.  Crazy!  Once upon a time the only information we had was pass down in books (probably a Book of Shadows) or taught from eldgers/experienced witches etc.  But Techno Witch is more than finding out correspondences or shopping for tools and supplies online.  It's also an opportunity to meet and network with hundreds and thousands of practitioners from all walks of life right across the world/internet.  The internet can be an amazing resource as I've said MANY times before especially if it saves time on you growing and/or harvesting your own herbs, having to aimlessly walk around hoping to stumble upon some kinda metaphysical or witchy shop or meet like minded people without looking up a shop location on google maps or joining some kinda of internet group or even just trading which is much easier online especially since it can open up your clientele with a larger customer base for selling the things you made, grew, sourced..  I touch on this in my last blog about practice for the budget / broke practitioner.

Spells too can be sourced online although some amaze me how people waste their time writing such gibberish where as others there's so real gems in there.  I myself prefer to look up the properties of my ingredients to choose what would work best for my working be it stones, herbs, oils or other items and sometimes I use the internet for guidance.  I believe I wrote a blog on how to write your own spells.  I often exercise common sense or get creative such as using pins or burning paper (I typically use cigarette papers) or making my own candles and such.  But is it possible to use a PC for this?  Well why not?  There's many websites out there that will generate a tarot deck reading..  Many that will generate a rune reading.  Chain mail is possibly a form of magick given the intention behind it - be it pass this on and you'll have luck or an angel is watching over you if you share or your best friend will die a midnight if you read and don't pass on this...  Yeh.  Perhaps I'm a little skeptical but what is the difference between a good health wishes chain letter sent via email or IM vs me lighting a candle and saying its to wish X person to have good health?  Where is the difference between me randomly selecting cards on a PC screen and randomly selecting a card from my deck (other than the connection you personally build with your deck, apparently).  What is the difference between writing on paper and burning it vs writing on pc and deleting it - ok there is that physically writing brings more of a physical connection and same with physical fire but if your not allowed to start a fire, keep getting yelled at for clogging the toilet with paper (tip write on toilet paper), or don't have any means of "destroying" a handwritten note (especially if witchcraft is something you're still very much in the broom closet about) then why note type it on your phone, say a few words, imagine it being destroyed as you erase it.  There's also candle simulations on PC for those of us who aren't allowed to burn candles or fire - it's almost like that placebo fireplace where if you put it on a large screen and stare at it you feel you're getting warmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_LUpnjgPso because of our human associations of fire to be warm/hot.   Ok maybe we can't add herbs to a cauldron on a device or make tinctures or medicinal stuff but we can write out a recipe for it or even find one on the internet.

Urban Witches, like any witches, could also set aside a sunny window, balcony, or spot in their home to grow some herbs themselves.  If you grow herbs which can also be used for your cooking as well as your witchy brews, tinctures, spells, rituals etc then you're definitely being a frugal Urban Witch at that.  There's always a way and of course check out the medicinal properties as well as possible side effects I touched on this in this blog: Real Dangers of Stones, Herbs and Essential Oils!

But what do we do if we actually don't have internet access at all?  What do we do if we actually do live an Urban life in the city?  Or what if you move a lot from once city to another.  How do we practice?  Well if you don't have internet then no matter where you live you should be able to source some traditional books..  Frequently hitting book stores and second hand book shops, charity shops, thrift stores etc in hope to source helpful materials.  Sometimes you can even get lucky with libraries..  But then if you're traveling perhaps carrying huge books around isn't so bright, travelling and practicing is a whole other blog post I'm sure but traveling altars (such as this one I made for myself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDkG0gGDPTA&t=550s is made up of some very basic things possibly you may have or can source cheaply in town, assuming you cant get online).  Travelling is probably when the internet becomes a great resource again especially on a smartphone , tablet or laptop type device as most libraries and internet cafes have this, some even have their own computers/devices!!  For the none internet users looking for herbal supplies perhaps check out food shops, grocery stores and specialist shops/stores that cater for Indian cuisine as they may carry more rarer herbs and spices.  As for stones well these days you can find stone pendants and bracelets in most touristy shops, some homeware shops may carry much larger amethyst pieces or coasters made of sliced agate, some garden stores (I know unlikely you have a garden if you live in say New York City lol) but some of them do chip stones that are semi precious stones!  Some second hand shops as mentioned in my last blog get donations of jewellery, random stones or items which the stones can be cannibalised from they also may have other items along side books and stones such as candles, cauldrons, goblets, glassware, crockery, cutlery, weaponry, knives, and a whole host of other tools.  Then how do you meet like minded people? and start a coven? join a coven? etc..  Well to meet like minded friends you might want to try visiting physic events or new age spiritual churches to hopefully find some of these people who at the very least can tell you about all the hidden gems in your area..  Perhaps you even know some people who could lend you their books or point you in the right direction for finding books and other supplies.  And as mentioned in blog 23 and 25 mundane everyday items CAN be repurposed into magickal items.
Personal story side note - I know when I was growing up I lived in Horncastle England a small village type town surrounded by lots of villages and fields and among a plethora of antique, junk and charity shops all which yielded bottles, boxes, books, trinkets, jewellery, nic nacs, and more..  As a teen I lived in Scunthorpe England a large steel work industrial town that had a gothy  type shop but a few nights a week a psychic did readings there and they also carried a few oddities, incense, incense burners, dream catches, wind chimes, worry dolls etc..  A witchy shop opened up across the carpark it mostly carried handmade clay wands with faces, hand painted wishing stones, large expensive overpriced crystals, smaller crystals and stones, dreamcatchers, incense, incense burners, fragrance oils, tarot decks, books, tarot bags and other small cloth bags...  ok it was the perfect witchy shop however due to lack of advertising and peoples interest it closed down after a few short months.  As a young adult I lived in Cornwall England literally next door to a witchy shop which sold a plethora of gothy/pagan/witchy clothes, home decor from coffins and vampires to dragons, goth girls, fairies, fae, witches and more.  All the usual items you could expect and more.   I believe the store is still open it's on Riverside Mevagissey they have a whole bunch of garden ornaments outside.  If you're in Meva though why not swing round to the pirate shop too you'd be surprised what they carry especially if you like skulls, chests, nautical and unusual items.  Where I'm living now as an adult in Blackpool England I know of a fair few magick, metaphysical, witchy etc shops such as The Wand Factory on Dickson Road which carries incense and burners of varying kinds, clay handmade figures and items, wands that are clay sculpted mostly with faces I believe, stones, ornaments that lean towards fairy and fae lovers mostly and a few more unusual items.. friendship things and cute keepsakes and whimsical things.  I know a few touristy shops in town such as Sea Life Centre gift shop sells stones and animal shaped stones too.  And I believe there's a few shops in town which sell Nemesis now and similar gothy and I suppose witchy stuff.  Another shop down near the pleasure beach on the sea front that sells Swords, Daggers, Guns, Apparently Cross bows and other Archery gear they also sell dreamcatchers, stones and crystals, ornaments and figures, a lot of touristy stuff like your name on a bracelet but they had some semi precious stone ones just not my name sadly.  I digress.
Going back to the idea of Techno Witches using PC's etc another idea would be to use it as a Book of Shadows (Grimoire, Mirrors, Angels, Reflections etc etc)  You don't necessarily need to have an internet connection to write what you know, write what you've learnt, copy down things you like from books (especially if they're borrowed books such as from a library or friend).  Don't forget to backup all digital work either onto a seperate harddrive, external usb/harddrive or print it out and put it in a binder or BoS etc.

There's also a ridiculous amount of amazing, good and absolutely terrible apps out there for you tablet and smartphone users.  Some of my favorites include apps that have moon widgets that show the moon phase and information where I live.  Some almanac apps that carry similar information.  You can find ones like Pagan / Wicca radio.  There's apps for information, spells, herb library, stone correspondences, you can get apps like Facebook and Amieno which both have Pagan and Witchy Groups..  In fact MANY and some may be local based too for example on Facebook here in Blackpool there's the Blackpool Moots group which is mostly composed of Druid, Wiccan, Shaman, Witches and a few others.  I haven't been to any of the talks (I have anxieties) but I watch the groups posts from time to time.  Other internet haunts may include (but are no way limited to) YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Patreon, Bloggers blogs such as this, Podcasts and more..

Ok so where do we buy online?  I have mentioned Ebay and Etsy and I absolutely love supporting independent businesses.  Sometimes you have to wade through a lot of overpriced crap to try and find the legit decent stuff and bonus if they're a bargain.  I have seen a lot of people buy stuff on aliexpress (which is another great place to shop especially for jewellery and such) then sell it for double, triple if not more on these other sites.  Another app to check out is DePop and of course Shpock, local sale groups and apps and freecycle / gumtree / craigslist depending on where you live.  Amazon too and then specialist websites or wholesale dealers again as mentioned before mundane items even cheap mundane items from Poundshops / Dollarstores can be used.  Sometimes look for job lots and always search in 'everything' not just specific categories yes it might take longer but that misslisted gem / bargain could be yours.  Also don't be afraid of purchasing from China yes it takes longer but you can get some amazing deals and items.  Failing that you could sign upto a subscription box such as The Witches Moon, Witch Casket, House of Rituals, Goddess Provisions, Enchanted Crystal and Box of Shadows just to name a few I've heard of but never subscribed to any so don't know what the deal is there.  I do however subscribe to DeAgostini's Enhancing Your Mind Body Spirit Magazine of which I do unboxing reviews on my YouTube Channel.

Before I go I did just want to mention that if you live in a City this is no way you and your life.  Equally if you do buy everything online you absolutely do not need to associate yourself with and / or call yourself a Techno Witch (nor Pagan etc) you can be absolutely be anything you wish to be you can be an Urban-Techno-Princess-Gypsy-Jedi-Witch if that is what you wish to be lol I'm just hoping that this was just a helping aid to those of you who don't have easy access to tools and supplies, was curious what an Urban Witch or Techno Witch was and information.  Also for those of you who love your internet and devices you may wish to check out some apps..   Again check out those previously mentioned blogs.

Also there won't be a blog for the foreseeable due to my homelessness situation.

Activity..

Just be the best you that you can be..  and light a candle for me if you can't help financially I know not many people can but wish they could and your thoughts and kindness means the world to me.  Until next time, keep safe and be magickal.

BoS Prompt 25: Practice for the budget/broke practitioner!

Link to previous prompts: http://ppwwmm.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/cauldroneers-bos-prompts.html

Prompt 25. Sunday 7th October 2018 - The 25th prompt will be..  Practice for the budget/broke practitioner!

Starting out in any new practice can be truly daunting, where to start? What to buy? What books do I need? What tools? Supplies? Materials? Ok..  Overwhelming is an understatement..  If you read my blog post on ‘Supplies What to buy and Where’ you’ll have a general idea of what’s available or even expected.. the kind of tools and supplies for basics and such forth but what about those of us who are on a tight budget or worse completely broke?  As mentioned in my last blog you absolutely do not need to buy anything in order to practice Witchcraft, Paganism such as Wicca or any other Spiritual Practices.  So in this blog post I thought I’d bring you some of the best tools and ingredients from the budget / broke practitioner.

1. Books and free online resources:
So first of all let's address the book situation.  As always books are a go to source for information and opinions, I’ve said before how I absolutely love to read / hear different peoples opinions, takes and practices on same or similar subjects..  I digress.  As I was saying books are a great resource although perhaps not every library is going to be well stocked in witchy, paganism, occult, magick etc type books..  This then leads to a few other sources so 1. You can find extremely reasonable second hand booked on ebay and amazon.  But if you’re completely broke (or don’t exactly want those huge doorstops advertising your new interest to anyone who sees them) feel free to hit the internet sourcing free materials such as this blog, other blogs, facebook groups etc.  Even pinterest, youtube and Instagram can be a great insight into what others are doing.  – Granted seeing what others are doing can be intimidating (and cause mass splurging wanting to buy all the pretty things) but don’t worry once you break the fear of practicing you’ll be well on your way..   You may even wish to consider other sources such as audiobooks from places such as audible and itunes.  Did I mention all the amazing YouTubers?!

2. Buy in bulk (and/or trade):
While this may not lean itself towards those of us who are completely broke it is definitely great for the long term users; often you can get a great discount if supplies such as herbs are purchased in bulk lots like instead of a couple of grams buy a few kilograms this will not only last longer but be more product for your money - be aware that herbs and such go off over time and do have a use by date.  Which brings me to my next point which is to trade.  If you have excess rosemary why not trade with a friend who bought a bulk load of jasmine and another who bought a bulk load of lavender and another who bought a bulk load of..  You get the idea.

3. Trade / Swap:
As I just mentioned you can always trade goods with friends, fellow community members, coven members etc.  I'm sure there's facebook groups setup for this type of thing and of course trade can also be for money, other goods and services.  You may also swap other items such as tools or handmade goods in order to aid your practice and others - if you have a skill why not put it to use?

4. Back to nature:
In my previous blogs I mentioned how a lot of traditional tools and supplies would have been picked from nature or sourced from nature be it herbs, plants, weeds, bark, resin etc or even sticks, stones, bones, antlers, dirt, sand, water, feathers, etc..  A great many things can be sourced and made from nature.

Bones can be used to create tools such as bowls, knives, spoons, cups etc.  They can also be turned into bone casting runes or have other runes such as Elder Futhark Runes engraved into them.  They can be used in jewellery, home decor, wards and other hangings.  They can be used in practice for spell and rituals and many other workings.  Same goes for antler and other animal remains like feathers, teeth and skin (such as snake skin).  If you have pets you may also be able to obtain whiskers, claws, hair etc which has naturally come off the animal of course.  Other animal products may include wool.

Dirt / Sand / Water and other elements that can be found and gathered including beach sand, dirt from graveyards or crossroads or other sacred or even none sacred spaces, water from the sea, lake, ocean, river, rain etc.  Water can be blessed or have other properties such as moon water, storm water, sea water etc.  Water such as seawater or ocean water carries a lot of powerful properties (please don't drink it) but you can anoint yourself and other items, use it in ritual and other workings, as a representation of water and more.

I wrote a blog on the properties of seaglass and how it carries all the elements throughout it's journey from fire and earth used to make the glass originally right through to air, earth and sea as it's tumbled and smoothed.

Other beach finds could include rocks and pebbles that you paint or use as are, seaweed, moss, algae, shell, bird feathers, dried dead starfish, crab parts, found objects, driftwood etc.  Even sand itself as it's good for burning charcoal discs upon or burning candles upon etc.

Flowers / Leaves / Plants / Herbs Etc..  These are all items that can be sourced in the wild, grown at home, found in our gardens, woods, parks etc.  These can be used in spells, incense and a variety of other magickal uses.  They can even be used in offerings to deity, fae, ancestors etc.  Plant parts that haven't been chemically treated can also be used in tea, tinctures, baths, skin care etc.  (Please do your research.)  And as said you can always grow your own.

Sticks / branches will make for excellent tools as they can be carved into wands, stirring tools, used in makings of items like wards, wall hangings, markings, division lines, athame, etc..   They could be carved, used for burning, larger branches and smaller sticks can make a traditional besom (or broom).   Woven into baskets.  There's a lot that can be done with sticks.

Stones and Rocks can be found in parks, woods, beaches, mountains, cliffs and other areas.  You may get lucky and find some quartz or other crystals depending on where you live.  But other stones such as those with natural holes in them are often known as hagstones, fairystones, wishstones or adder stone these stones all have a naturally occurring hole right through them (this is not a man made hole).  Here's a post (not by me) which gives more information on hagstones: https://www.thoughtco.com/what-is-a-hagstone-2562519..  Stones and rocks can also be used to crush ingredients much like a primitive mortar and pestle.  Rocks can be painted and used as elemental markers, deity symbols, other symbols and well a lot of painted rock uses as well as decor and even jewellery items which could be charmed.

5. Hand me downs & second hand shops:
Items handed down through generations, family, friends, neighbours, fellow witches etc.  This can also include free goods from sites such as freecycle here in the UK or Craigslist in the US (please be careful when dealing with strangers especially entering a strangers house! always exercise extreme caution as not everything is always as it seems!) but great deals can be found..

Same goes for second hand shops, while the items are not free you may find some great deals as well..

Items to look out for are things like any tables, stands, shelves, bookcases etc anything that can be used as an altar table or storage even medicine cabinets, display cabinets, sideboards etc.  Then you can get tools be it tools for your craft or tools to craft tools with.  You can also get bowls and crockery, fabrics, art supplies and much more.  Some may even have books, figures, jars, apothecary items, spice jars/racks, and other items.  Broken jewellery can be fixed and worn or used to adorn other items.  Jewellery boxes and other boxes are great to store everything from tarot decks to specialist items or even make yourself a manifestation box.

The beauty of secondhand despite finding some absolute unique pieces and bargains be it cheap or free is that even if you dislike the colour it can be painted or altered in some way to personalise the item to be your own unique item.  Even mundane items can become extremely witchy with a lick of paint and some clever spoken words.  You can even turn old clothing and fabric into altar cloths, throws, spell/mojo/storage bags, cloaks, decor, cushion covers and more..

Glass wear can be used as a chalice, Pans and other heatproof containers as cauldrons, Bowls etc, Mortar and Pestle, Storage, Figurines, Ornaments, Statues, Craft supplies (both art and magickal) and much more.

6. Recycled jars & containers:
I happen to know for a fact just how easy these things are to come by.  First of all any lovers of meat paste, coffee, jam, marmalade, sauces etc is going to become your best friend also anyone who has a baby / younge toddler etc..  People who buy other jar goods like pickled items, hotdogs, spreads..  And right there you've got yourself a collection of varying types and sizes.  Even herbs come in reusable glass containers.  All of these jars can be left alone, painted, add labels, ribbons, decorate in many ways or not and can hold various items from herbs and resins to stones, trinkets, jewellery, seaglass, water, found objects, spell jars, sand and more...

Failing obtaining these jars for free people tend to sell such items at silly prices on Ebay and Etsy and even local selling groups as often people buy them for wedding purposes (centerpieces / table decor etc).  Sometimes these things are donated to charity shops.  But some places like Wilkos, Poundland/DollarTree/DollarStore, Ikea and a few others carry jars sometimes quite inexpensively.

But why stop at glass jars?  Any container that can be washed is reusable..  So ice cream tubs, baby formula cans, gravy containers, sweet tins, pringles tubs are but a few that sprint to mind that can be decorated with paint, scrapbook paper or even decoupage with newspaper or decorative napkins or left as is.

You may even get lucky with glass bottles, reusable perfume bottles, ashtrays, sweet jars/containers, apothecary jars and bottles, baskets, bowls, trinket and jewellery boxes and other storage items too..

7. Candles:
Candles are another item that can be sourced quite cheaply or they can be expensive..  but making your own candles can be very cost effective either buying wax and wicks to make your own or melting down candles.  - Sometimes pre-used candles can come with a stigma of you don't know what energies or uses those candles had.  So like most other pre-used / pre-loved / pre-owned items you way with to Cleanse, Charge and Consecrate them.  Candles can also be anointed, have items added too such as oils, herbs and stones.  They can be reformed by being poured into heatproof silicone moulds.

8. Salt:
Salts has a lot of protective properties; in fact one of my upcoming blogs is going to be dedicated to different salts and some ideas of what you can use salt for in your practice.  But sea salt, rock salt, himalayan pink rock salt, witches black salt, epsom salt etc etc are just some kinds of salts that can be used with great power within your craft such as for protection, cleanse, purification and more.  Salt isn't overly expensive either and can be stored in some of them upcycled jars or bottles..  Or kept in their original packaging just keep in mind that salt is very absorbent of damp / moisture and negative energies..

9. Junk Drawers:
You will be amazed what you find hiding in the backs of your drawers, sewing boxes, bottoms of your jewellery boxes, or in that ever growing junk drawer, that odds and ends screw jar or button jar etc..  Found items can be used to make your own rune set.  Items for altering other items or adhoring handmade items such as wands, witchy boxes, spell jars etc..  A deck of playing cards which you could be used as is or custom modify into a tarot deck.  Pins/Needles can be used in banishing magick or in hoodoo workings among others.  String and ribbon can be used in magickal practices ie knot spells or binding spells.  Keys are magickal all on their own same with mirrors.  Jewellery; broken jewellery, odd earrings, bits of old necklaces, odd pendants without chains, or even just jewellery than can be repurposed or charmed.  Other items might include old coins or buttons..  Misc junk, scrap, metal, paper etc etc.  Paper can be wrote upon and burnt - I personally use cigarette papers for this.  Heck my junk drawer also contains lighters since I use to smoke some 5+ years ago..  You will be amazed at the treasure trove you have going on..  Marbles or mirrors for scrying etc.  You might even find some birthday candles (or wish candles as I like to call them), matches, other candles too.  Spoons or knives, even letter openers might make for some awesome stirring, measuring, cutting tools etc or even as an athame (my athame is a letter opener and my working knife is a penknife).

10. Journal / Diary / Notebooks / Technology:
Sourcing these may not be free but all pound shops and dollar stores stock paper and writing materials like pens, pencils and most I assume carry notebooks and diaries to..  Use purchased paper, another is to buy in bulk and then use as is (with a pen you found in your junk drawer perhaps) or alter to customise it with pens, stamps, paints, other found objects, decoupage and pretty papers, sometimes you can find free craft resources or samples including patterned paper, tissue paper, paper napkins..  You could also DIY a bookmark or charm page minder.  Other ideas may be to use your computer, tablet or phone - I know many people who have digital book of shadows (remember to back it up, or even print out pages as you see fit).

11. DIY Jewellery vs Cheap jewellery:
As a jewellery maker I probably shouldn't give away some tips of my trade but I'm here to help you out..  First of all making jewellery isn't actually as easy as it look, bending and forming wire isn't that simple and knotting elastic or fine threads aren't always that simple either.  But financially (if you take out the cost of your time to make) you can make a whole bunch of personal jewellery pieces from amulets to talismans and charmed items and more..  You could purchase inexpensive beads in the stones you love for metaphysical properties although as I have mentioned before you may also need to know the properties of some stones as some contain ill health properties that could make you sick while others may dissolve in water or discolour in direct sunlight here are a few I have sourced and found out about HERE.  Alternatively Charity Shops, Ebay, Second Hand Stores etc all source Semi Precious Stones and Jewellery Pieces from time to time some of which would be ideal.  I know a few years back I sourced a silver metal choker which had 9 pieces of Amethyst on it for 99p, at a carboot I purchased an Amethyst bracelet for 50p and a carnelian necklace that was missing one stone but I was able to repurpose.  Other options may include sites like aliexpress as I have a number of bat themed, raven/crow, planchet, amulet, locket, vial, cameo etc etc necklaces all for very cheaply from aliexpress.

12. DIY:
If you haven't guessed by now then DIY can be your best friend even though sometimes craft supplies aren't cheap but if you use upcycled, recycled, cheap or free items to make what you can yourself.  As mentioned you can make jewellery but you can also make jewellery from cheap or free supplies such as antler, wood, shell, stones and drilling a hole or wire/cord wrapping etc.  Other DIY may include things like making your own candles or altering candles to include herbs, oils, stones, scents, other candles or to remould them to shapes using various heatproof moulds such as silicone food moulds.  Other DIY items might include corn dolls (or voodoo dolls) made from corn, grass or similar woven items such as the as mentioned baskets for gathering and storage.  Woold can be used to knit or crochet tarot bags, herb bags or other textiles.  Paint cheap boxes or jewellery boxes to make them suit your need or even create a manifestation box which you can fill with free/cheap items.  DIY items can be traded, swapped or sold which would be a great source of income to be able to afford those more pricier items you have your heart set on; but as mentioned you don't need them.

13. Free Practice:
Practice comes in various forms and types some free things you could do to connect to nature/spirituality/the craft etc includes grounding yourself, meditation, prayer, self cleansing (with water, sunlight, moonlight), practicing mindfulness, gratitude, even charity work and doing good for others.  Other free workings may include creating your own Sigils, Runes or Ciphers. You could also look up some spoken spells or spells that require no tools or physical items..  Or that require only you or metaphysical abilities.  Some spells and working are created through sexual climax (this includes solo or consenting partner/partners).  Some workings can be achieved through imagination or inner self exploration.  Being humble, modest, living a green life, reducing your footprint, being vegetarian/vegan etc..  Workings can be solely done through emotional connections.  Dream workings.  Scrying in reflective surfaces.  Dowsing with any string/chain like item and weight.  Enchanting and charming items.  Using the clair senses or other abilities.

Prompt 23. Sunday 23rd September 2018 - The 23rd prompt will be..  Where and What Supplies to buy!

Supplies I’m back!  I mean surprise!!  But this particular blog entry is going to be about Supplies..  What I use and where I get it from..!!  And perhaps even why!!

Full disclaimer 1.  You absolutely do not need to buy anything to practice Magick, Witchcraft, any form of Paganism such as Wicca, Druidry, Shamanism etc.  These are all Earth Based Religions / Practices / Faiths etc meaning that our ancestors wouldn’t have gone out and purchased their tools and supplies; in fact most of them couldn’t afford to!  Supplies were picked and grown from our lands while tools would have been shaped, carved and created from trees, bone, antler, clay etc.   Although granted some would have been traded or purchased.  - I am in no way encouraging you to spend money.  2. I’m from England UK and so I will try and reference international sources but keep that in mind.

I have been asked by a few people on Facebook, Instagram and a few other Social Media haunts as to where I get my supplies from..  What I use, how I got my Altar and how I have accumulated so much stuff…  Do I use it all?  Absolutely not!  But I’m a creature of hoarding, collecting and materialistic things – especially if I can find them very inexpensively, make them myself or support independent businesses.  - Though I am no stranger to chain stores etc either.

Since magick is all around us everywhere and in everything we are not restricted to how we practice nor what we use..  Although that said let's take a look at some of the more common tools and supplies aka the "basics"?!!

First I'll look at more stereotypical witchy items and then Wiccan and then a few other general items you may wish to practice with..

So when we think of witches aside from the typical crooked nose, warts and green skin we also picture the conical hat, besom (or broom as it's more commonly known), a cat or other witches familiar, spell book, cauldron and perhaps a few other noticeables such as a black cloak or cape, potion bottles, spell ingredients such as frogs legs and eye of newt etc.  So let's break down some of these more stereotypical witches items; though while I can't do much for your completion I'm sure there's some interesting makeup or special fx gurus on youtube who will aid you in the tips and tricks of cosmology..  So let's look at the more material things shall we..
Besom/Broom:  The besom as I said a besom is more commonly known as a broom or a witch's broom.  These items are much more symbolic or for metaphysical use than literally functional.  They are very much traditionally made brooms made for sweeping though these brooms are more for sweeping away negative energies and to cleanse a space spiritually /magickally / metaphysically than it is for literally sweeping dirt.  (SPOILERS!Besoms/brooms are also noted as the witch’s mode of transport however I don't personally know any that actually fly!!   Besoms can also be purchased around Halloween, at specialist stores including Etsy.com and some antique shops or made yourself – I made mine from upcycled Poundland Halloween costume props and a large fallen branch I obtained in the woods.  Besoms are also incorporated into some wedding or handfasting ceremonies and/or ritualistic dance and traditions.
Cat/Familiar:   A cat or other witches familiar I have done a blog covering this so will link it HERE.  Essentially a pet that chooses you and lends its energies to you and your workings among other things.
Cauldron:  While having a cauldron is nice it's also not necessary at all.  Cauldrons were the cooking pots of the day.  If you think of a big pot of stew bubbling over an open fire then that was how food would have been cooked back in the day.  Today our traditions would be the equivalent to a pan on a stove.  Cauldrons / cooking pots and pans would be used to brew tea, potions, ointments, medicines etc..  As well as cooking food or preparing ingredients.  While it's not impossible to find cauldrons you're definitely going to pay a pretty penny especially for a heavy cast iron one.  I myself have quite a few small ceramic, brass and cast iron cauldrons which I believe I purchased them all from ebay.  Again second hand shops / charity shops / thrift stores around Halloween, Antiques places, car boots (or yard sales for our international friends) are just a few places to look.  Equally as mentioned a cauldron is not essential any heatproof cooking pan will suffice and even better if it has a lid.  I even know some people who use oil burners or fondue sets and again I have both.
Witches Hat:  The conical hat is a pointed hat worn in many styles, fabrics and traditions  throughout the ages however one belief of the witch is that it was believed that energies would manifest almost like a lighting conductor and be attracted and conducted as they hit the point of the hat and then be magnified as they’re protruded down the cone shape to the brim which then expels down into the witch surrounding her in an invisible cylinder of energies.  Conical hats are not terribly difficult to make even out of paper although typically they're made of stiff fabric.  They're also not terribly expensive to buy especially around Halloween where a cheap one could be purchased for use or even altered to adorn other elements and be customised to his or her tastes (as said Witches can be male or female).  I actually stole mine from my kid Sisters Halloween costume some 4 years or so ago since she was throwing it out.  I believe originally it was purchased from Wilkos for a few pounds or even Poundland.
Cloak/Cape/Robes:   A cloak or cape can easily be made or purchased at places such as eBay which is where I got mine.  This is much more ceremonial or symbolic.  Part of the attire almost like a uniform however not essential nor important.  The colour(s) may also be symbolic or carry values.  I did a blog on some colour correspondences HERE.  Alternatively some practices are done Skyclad (naked).
Bottles/Jars/Vials/Containers:   Potion bottles themselves are easy to come by depending on type, size, colour etc Pound shops, wilkos, ikea carry them but see second hand / charity shops / thrift stores.  Also check out crafting sections of chain stores, craft shops or repurpose other bottles or food containers, again ebay, etsy, aliexpress etc and then fill the empty bottles / veils etc with your desired supplies, potions, poisons, tinctures, specimens, oils etc..
Spellbooks:   Spellbooks can be purchased from specialist shops, book shops, ebay, amazon etc or even passed down.  The majority of my books, including my spell books, came from ebay.co.uk as I'm no stranger to second hand goods especially when you apply the three C's (cleanse, consecrate and charge)Book of Shadows or Grimoires are typically made yourself or handed down.
Spell Ingredients:   Spell ingredients such as herbs, spices, resins, bark etc can be purchased from specialist shops, food/grocery shops/stores, spice shops, herbalist shops etc etc they can also be home grown, traded, harvested from the wild etc  -  I also want to point out that back in days of old when spells used 'wing of bat' and 'tongue if dog', 'eye of newt' etc these were nicknames given to herbs a lot of these herbs we still use today check out this website for some of those more obscure old world names HERE.

In Wicca on a Wiccan altar you have a god and goddess side.  Typically the altar will be also split into element representative quarters.  There are a few set ways of laying out an altar and the items which should be upon it for use in various workings, rituals, spells, etc..  However the silver rule of do what feels right to you strongly applies here.
Altar:   An altar can be made in any space.  Traditionally this would be wooden like a wood table - this is an earth based connection.  However some of use, like myself, get a little more creative with our secret shoebox altars or our grand room dedicated spaces, our inconspicuous shelves etc..  I myself have a glass display cabinet for the simple reason my cats (or my cat and my familiar) like to get into everything!!  Altars can be created and altered from many mundane items; purchased or sourced for free preloved / second hand or new from places like Ikea, Argos and other furniture sellers.  Feel free to get inspiration here: http://fuckyeahaltars.tumblr.com/

Altar Cloth:  Said altar would usually be covered with an altar cloth (but not always) - this is both for protection and also the colour of the cloth or any pattern can be symbolic to the season, dedication, user, path etc.  I have a piece of black velvet which works nicely as simple and Gothy looking.  Other ideas are off cuts of fabric, scarves, tapestries, shawls, blankets, towels, prayer mats, table mats, ceramic tile, cushion covers, chopping board etc..

Athame:   An athame (athame is pronounced as 'a thor may') it is a ritualistic or ceremonial knife. This knife is not for cutting physical objects.  Traditionally black handled double edged blade that doesn't have to be metal if can be carved wood, bone, antler or stone even plastic if you so wish. It is used to direct energy, cast/recalling circles and cut metaphysical or energy ties.  This is dominantly a male/masculine object.  Personally my athame isn't black handled its pink handled, double edged letter opener I got on ebay.

Bell:   Bells are used for many a purpose from clearing negative or bad energies, dismissing of spirits or elementals, cleansing, as a signifier to starting/ending working/spell/prayer/ritual etc or as a representation of the element air.  A bell is a feminine object. I personally don't have a bell.  I do however have some thumb symbols, a singing bowl and a few other high frequency sounding items.  None of which are on my altar top.

Besom/Broom: I've already covered ^.
Boline:  Another kind of knife is a boline this is a curved blade almost like a small scythe.  They're typically very sharp and are used for cutting herbs or engraving candles.  I got a carpet cutting tool on ebay with a curved blade and wooden handle.
Candles:  I have a fair few blogs about candles including types of candle and candle colours.  Typically any white candle can be used in place of a colour.  Candles can be a shape or type to represent the working/ritual/spell etc or be engraved.  They can be anointed with oils or herbs.  I typically get my chime/spell/wish (birthday)/Hanukkah candles from ebay, tea light candles from Wilkos and any time I see a great deal on candles I get them plus I also make them myself such as my skull candles, votive and other specialist candles.  In Wicca candles are used to represent the god (usually gold, red or black) and the goddess (usually silver, green or white).  They can also be used to represent the elements or mark the quarters, spirit, as a working candle, fire etc.  Fire is a male item.
Chalice/Cup:   A Chalice or Cup has multi functional properties firstly it is a feminine object as its represented as the womb.  It is a ceremonial object in which wine or water (or other liquids) can be poured and shared with the divine, spirit, deceased etc as an offering.  It can be as simple as a cup or glass or as complicated as a forged goblet or chalice.
Cauldron:  I've already covered ^.
Dishes:   Dishes as I mentioned before about various dishes and such forth some are for specific tasks such as a libation dish which is typically a small bowl, dish or cup/chalice that is used to place offerings in (see my blog post on offerings HERE).
Divine / God and Goddess representation:   You may wish to get some figures, sculptures, pictures or some other representation. You may also want to do this with ancestors, spirits, demons, angels, symbolism of people etc. I myself have a wooden male and female sculpture I use to represent male and female. Again purchased from ebay. I also have some crow figures as one of my goddesses is The Morrigan.  - The Divine lives in all things!
Feathers:   Feathers are a representation of air and also of angels.  Feathers can be obtained from parks/woods or craft stores.  Be aware that some countries such as America it is illegal to own animal parts including bird feathers.
Mortar and Pestle:  A Mortar and Pestle set is used for grinding ingredients these can be obtained in the as mentioned shops.
Pentacle or Pentagram Altar Tile:   A Pentacle or Pentagram this is another symbol which I've covered in many blogs so click HERE for more information.  However in Wicca typically a Pentacle/Pentagram would be used as the centre of the altar.  I myself have a white wall tile with a silver and black Pentacle drinks coaster on top.  The tile I had laying around but the coaster was from ebay..
Salt/Salt Water:   Salt / Salt Water is pretty self explanatory.  There's various salts from sea salt to Himalayan pink rock salt and epsom salt.  Salt is pretty much used as purification among other things.  It can be used as a representation of water.
Spellbooks:   I've already covered ^.

Sword/Dagger:   Some people also like to have swords or daggers as part of their arsenal of tools though this lends itself more towards weapons.  - I personally haven't looked into this however.

Stones/Crystals:   Stones or crystals can be used for many of their metaphysical or magickal properties.

Wand:   A wand can be used instead of an athame.  Typically this will be a wooden stick.  Tree associations and properties are usually used here.  Alternatively crystal wands (and their properties), clay or even your index finger or dominant hand will suffice.  I made my wand for more information on this go HERE.
Working book:   Some people like to have a separate notebook for their planning which they copy finalised and successful recipes etc into their Book of Shadows / Grimoires later.
Working knife:  Working knife unlike the athame this is used to cut, carve, chop, draw, engrave etc it's a multi tool knife.  Traditionally this knife would be white handled.  I myself have a penknife as my working knife which I believe I got from an army stall on a market.

I hope that gives you some ideas of things you'd like to obtain.  Most ritualistic tools while dedicated to one's craft would still be made from mundane items; as said a lot of things traditionally would have been made from found objects gathered from nature including a lot of clay sculpted, wood carved or woven creations etc.   Wands would have been carved from sticks and knives from sticks, branches, bone, antler etc.  Even mortar and pestle would have been a rock and a bigger rock or stone surface.  Incense would have been made from scratch ingredients (plants, resins, bark etc).   A lot of herbs, resins, bark etc would have been picked fresh and dried then stored for use.  Today we're lucky in that we can pop to most grocery stores to find basic herbs; pre-dried and bottled ready for our use.  Specialist shops inc ebay and etsy sellers may carry more obscure items. - I also recommend keeping your magickal and cooking supplies separate just encase!!
Other things you might like to buy are more personal to the user such as jewellery pieces especially those which are amulets, talismans, trinkets etc (I did a blog on these and what's the difference between them HERE).  Of course you can make your own or purchase them.  Mine are a mixture of what I made myself and inexpensive AliExpress jewellery.  This then falls into our curio items (curiosities); so unusual and obscure items like skulls, taxidermy, legs, wings etc..  Which is usually more for decor purposes than functional in modern day practices.  You may also want to buy, alter or make trinket boxes, dishes, drawstring bags, silk cloths etc..  Or other items such as dreamcatchers, evil eyes, wards, signs, wall hangings, windchimes, suncatchers etc
And of course not forgetting all the different kinds of divination tools..  I've written about Divination and some Divination Tools such as Tarot Cards, Dowsing Pendulums and Scrying Mirrors HERE.  I'd like to point out how you can draw or print your own tarot cards / oracle cards / fortune cards / sigil cards / angel cards / iChing cards / rune cards etc etc..  Likewise you can sculpt with clay or engrave wood, stone, bone, antler etc to make your own rune set be it Elder Futhark Runes, Witches Runes or some other Runic set. You can very easily make a Dowsing Pendulum, Crystal Grid, etc, you can make your own Spirit Dice (or do as I did and repurpose a boggle set!) etc.  Again you can scry into a bowl of water, paint the back of picture glass to make your own black mirror or use a number of other items.  You can make your own ouija board.  Tasseography / tea leaf reading can be done in almost any cup.  You're not limited to spending a fortune on premade divination tools and items..
You may also want to purchase or make notebooks, diaries or journals for recording experiences such as spells, rituals, dreams, communications etc.
